Fresh Salsa

Fresh Salsa
Fresh Salsa |

I first learned to make salsa from my aunt, Tita Perla. She only showed me how to make it once, but I can still remember standing in her periwinkle blue kitchen and helping her chop the fresh and fragrant ingredients. She even gave away her secret ingredient, fish sauce, which added a unique flavor. Since Tita Perla's salsa wasn't vegan, we created our own version for our vegan friends from Brooklyn, by replacing it with a mixture of salt and spices.

  • 2 diced tomatoes

  • 1/2 diced medium onion

  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 bunch of cilantro chopped (we love cilantro so we go crazy with it)
  • A pinch of salt to taste
  • A pinch of paprika
  • JalepeƱo (optional)

  1. In a bowl add tomatoes and onions.

  2. Squeeze lime juice into bowl.

  3. Toss in cilantro.
  4. Sprinkle salt and paprika.
  5. Eat with chips, tacos, or in a burrito bowl.
